Setting up Material Sources

With Continia Sustainability, users can efficiently report and compare emissions associated with material sourcing. For companies that procure materials and measure emissions related to purchased goods, this category often represents one of the most impactful aspects within the scope of emissions. Therefore, companies must assess the impact of materials from various sources, such as primary materials versus recycled ones. Continia Sustainability enables this critical analysis, allowing businesses to understand and address the environmental footprint of their material procurement practices effectively.

To set up material sources:

  1. Use the Search icon, enter Material Sources, and select the related link.

  2. On the action bar, select New to add a new material source and description.

  3. On the action bar, select Mappings.

  4. On the Material Source Mapping page, in the Emission Factor Set Code column, you can now select the factor set that you want to use. For example, Klimakompasset. Use Select from full list to select the factor set from the Emission Factor Set list, which displays the emission factor set code, description, and manual change allowance.

    Tip

Relevant Emission Factor Sets for Material Sources include Defra and KlimaKompasset.

  5. On the Material Source Code (Emission factor Set), you can specify the code for the specific factor set that you want to link the material source to. For example, assign the relevant code if you're dealing with primary materials.

Note

Keep in mind that not all emission factor sets make distinctions between different material options. Depending on the set you are using, you may or may not need to set up this page.
