Installation of components (add-ins)
When Continia continuously develops integration with new banks, or expands Continia Payment Management with new payment methods, Continia implements this in Payment Management using external components, also called dll-files. This chapter describes how to install these components.
Note
It is a prerequisite that you have downloaded the latest product package from Continia PartnerZone and copied the files to the computer where you are going to install the components. Unpack the product package to a location of your choice and remember to check that the files are not blocked by Windows.
For the newer versions of Dynamics NAV and Business Central on-premises the components only need to be installed on the Service-Tier machine, but for older versions, it may also be necessary to install the components on the client computers that use direct communication.
The components you need to install now are categorized by the following types:
Continia Bank Integration Component (CBIC)
This component is used to convert the payment files to be sent to the bank in a format that the bank understands as well as, the opposite way to convert the status files and bank statements received from the bank to a format that Payment Management understands.
The component converts the files according to the bank's format descriptions, and then returns the file to Dynamics NAV or Business Central on-premises afterward. The component does not send anything to the bank.
There is only 1 component (dll file) of this type in the product package.
From Dynamics NAV 2013 and in all Business Central on-premises installations, you have the option of using an online version of the component, which Continia makes available on Continia Online (recommended).
When you install the components described below, a local version of this component is always installed so that you can run Payment Management independently of the Continia Online component.
The component on Continia Online, will always be the latest version.
Important
From Payment Management version 2.55 and onwards, the online version of the CBIC is always selected by default. You must therefore actively deselect "Use Online-CBIC" under Payment Management Setup.
Continia Bank Communication Components (CBCC)
These components are used by Dynamics NAV or Business Central on-premises to send the payment file to the bank and to retrieve status files, deposit files, exchange rates and bank statements.
There are several components (dll files) of this type in the product package, 1 dll file for each bank or bank central. These components form most of the functionality of the direct communication with the bank.
Important
These components must be installed locally, even if you do not want to use direct communication. It is important that you install these components, otherwise you can't compile the objects in Dynamics NAV or Business Central on-premises.
Installation of the components
Since there are differences between how the different versions of Dynamics NAV and Business Central on-premises run add-ins, the installation is described below based on which version you are using.
Dynamics NAV version 5.x - 8.00.00
The following installation is used on the computers where the objects are to be compiled on as well as on the client computers that are subsequently to use direct communication:
Start Setup Setup.exe, located at the root of the product package.
Find the section Dynamics NAV Classic / RTC Client and click on Client Add-Ins
In the field Select Dynamics NAV version select the current version of Dynamics NAV for which components are to be installed.
The field Dynamics NAV RTC Path now displays the default file path in which the Dynamics NAV client is normally installed. If your Dynamics NAV is not located here, either type the correct path or apply button Browse to select it. You must select the "RoleTailored Client" folder.
Click Install.
The following installation is used on the server where ServiceTier service is running:
- Start Setup Setup.exe, located at the root of the product package.
- Find the section Dynamics NAV Classic / RTC Client and click on Client Add-Ins.
- In the field Dynamics NAV Version Filter select the current version of Dynamics NAV for which components are to be installed.
- In the field Select Dynamics NAV Service Tier select the specific service on which the components are to be installed.
- Click Install.
- Back on the installer, click Close to close the application.
- You may now remove the files from the product package and log off the server.
- The installation is complete.
Dynamics NAV version 9.00.00 and later and Business Central on-premises
It will not be necessary to install the components on the clients, as these versions of Dynamics NAV and Business Central on-premises copy the components themselves to the client's computer.
The following installation is used on the server where ServiceTier service is running:
- Start Setup Setup.exe, located at the root of the product package.
- Find the section Dynamics NAV Server and click on Server Add-Ins.
- In the field Dynamics NAV Version Filter select the current version of Dynamics NAV for which components are to be installed.
- In the field Select Dynamics NAV Service Tier select the specific service on which the components are to be installed.
- Click Install.
- Back at the installer, click Close to close the application.
- You may now remove the files from the product package and log off the server.
- The installation is complete.
