Business value

Using consistent country codes across systems is essential for accurate data capture and smooth expense handling. Previously, country matching between Business Central and the AI Receipt Scanner depended on the country code in Business Central, which can be freely defined by admins and doesn’t have to follow ISO standards. This sometimes resulted in mismatched or unrecognized countries on scanned receipts, forcing expense users to correct the country manually.

By aligning country mapping with ISO country codes in both Business Central and the AI Receipt Scanner, this feature improves the accuracy of country recognition on receipts. Expense users will experience fewer manual corrections, faster expense submissions, and more reliable reporting data across companies and countries.

Feature details

This feature introduces country mapping between Business Central and the AI Receipt Scanner, based on ISO country codes instead of the configurable country code in Business Central.

When a receipt is scanned:

  • The AI Receipt Scanner identifies the country using its own ISO-based country list.
  • Expense Management then matches the country to Business Central using the ISO country/region code (rather than relying on the user-defined country/region code field).

When ISO codes are maintained correctly in Business Central, the country will be matched more consistently and automatically on the expense.

This change reduces the risk of mismatches caused by custom country codes in Business Central, and increases the number of receipts where the country is correctly recognized and prefilled. As a result, expense users spend less time adjusting the country during submission, and admins benefit from more consistent and standardized country data across the solution.
