Running the Document Output Service
Once you've installed and configured the Continia Document Output Service, you're ready to run the service. The service can be run in two ways:
- As a Windows service (running in the background)
- Using ServiceGUI.exe (doesn't require a Log on as a service permission)
For additional information on the ServiceGUI application, see How it works. Note that it can also be configured to automatically start with Windows.
Important
Don’t run the ServiceGUI application together with the Windows service, as this may cause unexpected behavior (such as two applications trying to register on the same port or pulling jobs from the queue).
Errors and exceptions
If an error occurs when you run the Document Output Service, you can find the error message in the Windows Event Viewer (Microsoft article) by using the filter Continia Document Output Service as the source. Note that the Service Manager must have been started at least once on the computer for errors to be logged in the Windows event log, as it handles the required application registration in Windows.
If you use ServiceGUI.exe, application errors are also displayed in the respective log tables of each tab in the ServiceGUI application itself.
